Sandy Row Makes a New Noise
Weavers Court join forces with Moving on Music to produce a new type of song from Sandy Row

The sound of music rang out across the streets of Sandy Row recently when a group of local young people took to the stage of Sandy Row Community Centre to showcase new songs and pieces of music they created themselves
This initiative of Moving on Music, actively supported by Weavers Court, was so successful that a CD featuring these New Songs from Sandy Row was produced and also launched at the event, and the event generated enough widespread interest to be attended by the Lord Mayor of Belfast and the American Consulate
The project ran between November 2010 and March 2011 involving groups of young people between 8-18 from the Sandy Row area working with three professional musicians in a series of weekly workshops. Such was the result in talent that the CD was able to be produced creating totally original pieces inspired by their experiences
This was a terrific initiative that Weavers Court were delighted to be a part of
